If you are not happy with how your bedroom looks right now, you can do something about it. There are lots of little things you can do to spruce up your bedroom and give it a new, fresh and beautiful look. Here are some ideas to get you started.
1. Choose a Theme
Decide what the overall theme of the room should be. This will help you know how to decorate and put everything else together. When choosing a theme, consider how long you would like to have it. If you want to maintain the theme for a short period of time, let’s say a year or two, then there will be no need to over commit yourself to the theme. This means that there will be no need to buy expensive furniture and lots of decorations with the theme you’ve chosen. You can choose something that you can easily change whenever you want to.
2. Clean Up Your Bedroom
Sprucing up your room can involve doing something as simple as cleaning it up. Get rid of unnecessary clutter. If there is any item in your bedroom that you haven’t used in a while, throw it out, give it away or sell it off. This will leave you with lots of space that you can decorate. Once you have gotten rid of the stuff, examine your room and see what you already have. You can build up on these items when redecorating.
3. Decorate the Walls
The best way to do this is to give the walls a fresh coat of paint. You can mix the colors as you want. If it is not possible to paint the walls, consider using wallpaper instead or you can even use fabric. You don’t have to change the appearance of all walls; you can just change the appearance of one wall.
You can also use stencils to design the walls in different patterns. The walls should be a solid color and the stencil designs should use a contrasting color. If you are renting a house, you can use decal stickers instead of stencils. The stickers can be easily peeled off when it is time to move houses.
4. Add Some Pillows on the Bed
Use a lot of pillows with differing sizes to get that cool, comfortable hotel look. The bigger pillows should be towards the back of the bed and the small pillows should be at the front of the bed. Mix and match patterns and colors of the pillowcases.
5. Make the Room Cozy by Adding a Rug
A rug will add some softness and warmth to the room. Choose a rug that blends in well with the rest of the decoration in the room. You can choose something that matches the linens, curtains or wall. The rug can cover the whole floor or it can cover the 3 sides of the floor around the bed that are the most used. If your room has a carpet, consider placing a rug on one side of the bed.
